I'm Juan Fran. I live in Barcelona and paint watercolours.
I drew a lot when I was little. Then I gave it up, and as an adult I wanted to take it up again. Watercolour had always caught my eye, but I had never tried it.
What I find hardest about watercolour is exactly what draws me to it: it can't be fully controlled. Every painting is a small challenge.
I mostly paint places I recognise: streets of Barcelona, coves along the coast, Mediterranean villages. Although sometimes what makes me stop is a person or a scene with no name. I usually take a photo on the spot and then paint at home, taking my time.
Here you'll find originals, which are one of a kind, and prints and canvases of other watercolours of mine. Anything sold as an original is never made into a print.
