A hot afternoon on 2 September, one of those when summer hasn't quite gone yet. I went out for a walk around the neighbourhood to buy a few things for the house and, when I reached Plaça de la Vila, the light at that hour and a square almost empty of tourists made me stop. I had to make the most of it: I took the photo before the moment was gone.
The photograph is from that afternoon; the watercolour was painted later, at home. It is the square as those of us who live in the neighbourhood see it at the end of summer: quiet, with low light and the day about to end.
